The Department of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sport Traumatology
The Department (Section) of Surgery of the Knee of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (PTOiTr) was founded in 1981 during a Symposium on Knee Surgery in Kielce. Assoc. Prof. W.M. Kuoe became the Section's first president.



The Division of Hand Surgery
On May 25th, 1966 The Division of Hand Surgery of The Polish Orthopedic and Traumatology Association was created by the decision of the Council of the Association, indicating Poznañ as the place of residence. Simultaneously, Prof. Hieronim Strzy¿ewski was authorized to organize a Division and its Council.

The Metabolic Bone Disorders Section
The awareness that a division of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (PTOiTr) concerned with metabolic bone disorders should be created was growing for many years both among scholars and clinicians treating such patients in their daily practice. An initiating group formed in January 1999 organized a meeting at the Warsaw Medical University Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Locomotor System, during which the Section was formally established.

The Section of Osteosynthesis
The Section of Osteosynthesis of Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology is seventeen years old. It was founded at the general conference of the Society on 16 May, 1987. The decision to establish the Section was taken by the Head Committee of Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology on 25 November, 1985.

The Oncology Section
The Oncology Section of the Polish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Society is the youngest division of the Society. The founding meeting took place in Lublin during the Scientific Conference on Treatment of Bone Metastases, on May 16, 2003.

The Rheumaorthopaedic Section
The Rheumaorthopaedic Section of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics & Traumatology was established in 1982 by Prof. Sylwester Jakubowski and Dr Mirosław Śmiłowicz. Its first President was Prof. Jakubowski, followed by Dr Mirosław Śmiłowicz, Prof. Tadeusz Gaździk, Prof. Paweł Małdyk and, currently, Dr Jacek Kowalczewski.

The Spondyloorthopaedic Section
The Spondyloorthopaedic Section of The Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology was established in 1981 on the initiative of a group of orthopaedists who believed that a concerted effort of physicians specializing in various fields was necessary to work out standards in spine diseases.

The Section of Paediatric Orthopaedics
established the Section of Paediatric Orthopaedics (SPO). That decision of the PSOT authorities was a great success that came after many years of continued efforts of Prof. Ignacy Wośko, Head of the Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics. It only took a few years of SPO's activity to show that it was a much-needed institution.
